Immunization of Schools Pupil Act

Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, students attending schools in Ontario are required to be vaccinated against nine diseases, or else have a valid exemption.  Parents are required to report all immunizations done at the doctor's office to Ottawa Public Health. Every year, OPH conducts an immunization surveillance campaign and students whose records remain incomplete may be suspended from school. OPH is sending out written notices this week to the homes of students whose records are incomplete.  Should those records continue incomplete, suspension orders will be mailed on January 10, 2019, with suspensions to be enforced on February 6, 2019.
