Halloween at LBP
At Lester B. Pearson, we pride ourselves on our respectful and inclusive community. This Thursday is Halloween and we encourage students to approach costume choices thoughtfully.
It’s essential to avoid cultural appropriation and ensure that costumes align with our values. Using elements from a culture that is not your own without understanding or respecting it—can lead to discomfort.
Wearing costumes is entirely optional; students can choose to dress in black or orange instead. Everyone is encouraged to celebrate in a way that feels comfortable for them.
Proposal for boundary changes to Lester B. Pearson and St. Matthew High Schools
Enrolment at Lester B. Pearson has steadily increased, leading to the need for portable classrooms on-site. Projected enrolment growth may impact sports fields and recreational spaces in the future. To address this, the OCSB planning staff propose changing attendance boundaries to incorporate Good Shepherd Elementary School into the St. Matthew High School family starting in the 2025-2026 school year. This proposal is part of the board’s long-term plan to alleviate enrolment pressures at Lester B. Pearson and prepare for a planned new secondary school in Orleans. Families affected by this change can provide feedback until January 15, 2025.
Parents will have the opportunity to learn more and provide feedback at a consultation meeting on November 27 at Lester B. Pearson School. Details will be posted here as soon as they are available.
Parents can also provide their feedback by completing this Google Form by January 15, 2025.
